About Dr. Maier

Dr. Maier headshotI am clear that I am here to witness peoples’ lives, stories and the power from their inner strength has guided me, empowered me and shaped my career as a “doc.”

For 30 years I have been a Board-Certified Family Practice physician, and my intention has always been to form a relationship with my patients that allows them to discover a personalized system of health maintenance and healing. When I left the structured allopathic world 8 years ago to start my own individual practice, my dream was to have my office be “in health, a place of safety, a sanctuary where people can come to learn, grow and prevent disease and in illness, a place of healing, of the mind, body and spirit.”

Learning

I have become an experienced, highly qualified allopathic diagnostician at the same time that I am continually searching for integrative substance and balance in my work. The study of medical acupuncture has further expanded my understanding of the mind, body, spirit connection and I have a deep sense of energy, curiosity and growing wisdom. I am currently a student of Qigong.

Growth

My goal is to spend more time with my patients, as listener, advisor (providing medical options), diagnostician, and advocate. My work empowers you to help yourself.

I embrace alternative medical practices that are documented to improve the well being of the whole person. That, I believe, is the definition of integrative medicine.

My patients are those who want to be part of the process, to be involved in decision making in regards to their health, to learn and grow with me.

The Country In Me

The plains of Nebraska and the lakes of Minnesota were the locales of my youth, and I have lived in California for most of my professional life. Outside of medical practice, my loves include two wonderful children, running, water sports like open water swimming, kayaking and windsurfing. I play the piano, speak French and love Paris!

Living Out Loud

"If you were to ask me what I came into this world to do I will tell you: I came to live out loud.”
